Card Review: Black Rose Dragon

Hey, guys! I haven't updated for a while, so I thought would. (BTW, don't worry we'll get the Monarchs too.)

So today we review the first Synchro Monster, Black Rose Dragon.
Let's check out its effect:

When this card is Synchro Summoned, you can destroy all cards on the field. Once per turn, you can remove 1 Plant-Type monster in your Graveyard from play to change 1 Defense Position monster your opponent controls to Attack Position, and make its ATK 0.

Pretty Good, the first effect is ok, if your opponent has lots of traps ready to spring, but it can also backfire on you so be careful. The second effect is awesome, BUT only for certain decks. Check out the word Plant. This is what throws it off. Plants are types that very few, build a deck around, they have their advantages. The effect itself is actually great, maybe even broken.(BTW, broken means so good that it should be banned.) The effect renders your opponets monsters useless. The effect doesn't destroy the Monster, so Stardust and Destruction Jammer, won't be able to work on it. Then you can attack and Monster and inflict massive damage, but the catch is the Plant thing.

Now, the stats ATK 2400 and DEF 1800
It's kinda low for a 7 star monster, but it's effect makes up for it.

I suggest you use cards that make you discard cards, so that you can get Plants in the graveyard. Thorn of Hatered will do pretty good to with it.

BRD gets a 5/10 if you don't have a plant, but if you have a Plant deck it gets a 9.5/10. Overall it's pretty simple: if you have Plant Deck, get it, if not don't. Nuff said.

Monarch Card Review: Raiza the Storm Monarch

Today, We hit our first Monarch review with Raiza. BTW, I've posted a new Poll about the monarchs, so vote on your favorite!

First off, let me explain what the Monarchs are. The Monarchs are a group of 7 monsters. One for each attribute.(With the exception of Light which has Zaborg and Kuraz.) they all are level 6(Except for Zborg who has 5), and have 2400 ATK and 1000 DEF. They all have an effect that activates when they are Tribute Summoned.

So now on to Raiza.

If you don't feel like reading the card effect on the right here it is:

When this card is Tribute Summoned, return 1 card on the field to the top of its owner's Deck.

I would have to say that Raiza's effect is not really the best, thought it can come in handy. Say your opponet just Synchro Summoned, Stardust Dragon bring out Razia and send Stardust back to the Extra Deck. (If it had been any monster from your Deck it would be sent back to the Deck.) It can also work on your side too, say your monster just got stopped by Nightmare Wheel, but you dan't want to lose your monster, bring out Razia and pick you monster to send it back to your deck, so you'll draw it next turn.

His ATK and DEF are pretty standard. His attack matches that of Red-Eyes. He is level 6 so if you are low on monsters you can activate Cost Down to bring him out easily, but he won't get his effect. He's not much of a defending monster with 1000 DEF.

I suggest that you use in combo with Archfiend's Oath if you use him on yourself. I also, reccomend Cost Down with him, to get him out easily. Razia works well with Jinzo, or any Trap negater, because he is vulnerable to things like Divine Warth, and Trap Hole.

Razia gets 6/10. His effect is only ok, but it can open up the feild. He is Limited to only one in a Deck. In my opinion there are many better Monarchs, but he's not to bad.

Card Review: Dark Paladin

So, the first Fusion monster review ever is Dark Paladin.

First of all let's look at the effect:

"Dark Magician" + "Buster Blader" - This monster can only be Special Summoned by Fusion Summon. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, you can negate the activation of 1 Spell Card and destroy the Spell Card by discarding 1 card from your hand. The ATK of this card increases by 500 points for each Dragon-Type monster on the field and in either Graveyard.

Overall a pretty good effect, the ability to negate Spells is very handy, and makes him even harder to kill. I actually suggest putting some dragons in your deck, with him so that you can power him up.

Now the Stats: 2900 ATK and 2400 DEF. His attack will be able to get stronger because of his effect, so we are talking about an ATK that could make Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon watch his back. DEF is good too. 2400 is enogh to hold off your opponent for a little.

Now, Dark Paladin goes good with Dragons, to power him up. He is also a little tricky to get out unless you you have Future Fusion,(Which is limited to 1 per deck I think.) so I would trow in so Skilled Dark Magicians, and Skilled White Magicians. These two guys are awesome for getting out Dark Magician and Buster Blader.

I rate Dark Paladin a 9/10. He is a very good card to bulid a deck around, he has an awesome effect, but he can be tough to bring out. Overally a great card.

Sorry about not posting in a while, guys.

Card Review: Wall of Revealing Light

Well, today is the first review that isn't the first review. In other words this is the second review. Here is Wall of Revealing Light.(WoRL for Short.)

Let's take a look at the text:

When you activate this card, pay any multiple of 1000 Life Points. None of your opponent's monsters with an ATK equal to or less than the Life Points you paid can attack.

As oppose to WoRL's distant cousin, SoRL, WoRL is continuous, so it will last as long as it is not destroyed. Now the actual effect is pretty good. It can stop many monsters in their tracks. Because it is contiuous and keeps your opponet from attacking, I consider it one of the best stalling cards in the game.

WoRL has one true downside: The price, sure It can stop Blue-Eyes Ultimate. For 5000 life points. Which means it can take take your life points pretty low. Usually though, it is worth it. Unless your opponent, activates MST, Heavy Storm, Solem Judgment, or any card like that, you just paid 5000 Life Points for NOTHING! So a Spell Canceller hanging around

Overall though WoRL gets a 9/10, mostly for being probably the best stalling card in the game, and for being one of the best overall Trap Cards in the game. Just be careful with it though. :)

Tell your friends!

This blog is pretty new with not many people here yet. So, I would really appreciate it if you guys would kinda advertise this blog. You could tell yours friends or anything. Just spread the word.

Thanks! :)

Interveiw with: The Cook.

Hello, everyone, I figured to honor the first person other than me to come to this blog I'd interview them. So here is The Cook.

Q:Hello The Cook, welcome. So first question what is your favorite Card and why?

A:I would have to sayZombie World because you can start out with Red-Eyes Zombie or any of the Zombie cards in the Zombie Structure Deck and they all take part in that one card making it VERY valuable.

Q:What do you think of the new Sychro Monsters. Are they worth Sychro Summoning, or is it a waste?

A:They can be very helpful because some have effects and are pretty easy to summon.

Q: Do you think that it would be a good idea for the staff at for the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG to add another card type? (ex: Effect Sychro, Fusion, etc.)

A:I think that they should add maybe a couple more zombie synchro monsters. That would be great.

Q: Overall Trap Cards are very annoying to the other Duelist. Which Trap Card would you say is the MOST annoying?

A: Mirror Force because it can destroy all monsters on the field, unless you have a Jinzo : )

Q:Lastly, what advice do you have to young players?

A:Start out with a starter deck and work your way up to buying smaller packs to so you have a wider range and if your thinking about buying individual cards from older people don't because they can have a trick up their sleeve. Go to your nearest card store.

Thank you The Cook. BTW, I 've come up with a card for the next review: WoRL (Wall of Revealing Light if ya didn't know.)
